Careers at Spacecat

We’re a small independent studio building worlds with texture, feeling, and intent. If you care about atmosphere, honest systems, and sustainable craft — we’d like to hear from you.

How we work

  • No crunch — we protect focus and rest so the work stays sharp.
  • Small, multidisciplinary pods with real ownership.
  • Remote‑friendly with a strong async culture and clear rituals.

Open roles

We don’t post dozens of roles at once — we hire carefully for where the studio is going next.

Senior Game Designer

Help shape systems that feel expressive, readable, and emotionally resonant.

  • 3+ years designing moment‑to‑moment gameplay or live systems.
  • Comfort working from loose visions and incomplete constraints.
  • Bonus: experience with Unity or Unreal prototyping.

Technical Artist

Sit between art and engineering to make the world feel alive.

  • Strong sense for shaders, lighting, and real‑time VFX.
  • Can turn a mood board into controllable, performant systems.
  • Bonus: experience with tooling for other artists and designers.

Generalist Engineer

Own features end‑to‑end across gameplay, tools, and performance.

  • Comfortable jumping between prototypes and production code.
  • Experience with Unity or Unreal and at least one shipped title.
  • Bonus: interest in networking, build pipelines, or optimisation.

No exact fit? You can still reach out with a short note and a link to your work — we review every speculative application.

How we treat each other

  • We care more about how you think than which tools you’ve memorised.
  • Feedback is direct but kind — we’re here to improve the work, not score points.
  • We default to trust and clarity: clear expectations, clear support.

What we look for

  • A point of view on games and why they matter to you.
  • Evidence of craft — shipped work, prototypes, or experiments.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and time zones.

Send us your work

We don’t have a rigid template for applications. A thoughtful note and links to your best work are more valuable than a perfectly formatted CV.

  • Links to portfolio, GitHub, itch.io, ArtStation, or showreels.
  • A short description of the kind of problems you enjoy solving.
  • Any constraints we should know about (location, timeline, etc.).

We review applications in focused batches. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to schedule a call.
